So Long, Farewell, How do you Say Goodbye?
I tried to write this yesterday, but wasn’t able to clearly articulate what I wanted to say. I know what you’re thinking- when has that stopped me before. This post is about God stuff so I wanted to make it a little better. God has always provided for our needs and this is one of those times when he’s also provided for a want. I’m so happy to announce that Big Bertha (my old computer) is no more (I’ve blogged about her here and here). A sweet woman in my Bible study wanted to give her old computer to someone that could use it. I called and told her my sob story about how my computer was 6 years old and really really slow- and how everyday I thought that that would be the day it crashed. A new computer is not in our budget right now so when Big Bertha crashed that would be it for a home computer for a while (my husband brings home his laptop at night, but I’d rather not use it if possible). So my friend told me how her husband got a bonus at work and he bought a new computer and there’s nothing wrong with their old computer and they wanted to give it away rather than selling it. So we got the computer! I’ve been wanting a new computer for a long time, but really dwell on it to much because I knew that it wasn’t going to happen. I didn’t really even consider that somehow God would step in and provide for us. I’m always so grateful that he provides for all of our needs I never think that he’ll also provide for our wants.
Another time he provided for our wants was with my kids bedroom furniture. When we found out that I was pregnant with Baby #3 we knew that Baby #1 and Baby #2 would have to bunk up. We started pricing bunk beds and bedroom furniture and after a few months decided that that’s not what God wanted us to do. We felt that we were just suppose to get a box spring and mattress for each kid and leave it at that. So that’s what we did. Yes it was not pretty, but it worked. Since my kids rarely slept on the actual bed itself it really didn’t make any difference (they always slept in the floor between the mattresses). So fast forward about 1 year. Another dear woman in my Bible study was giving away her kids old bedroom set. Which included a bunk bed, dresser, and nightstand!!!! It’s all in great condition and my kids loved their new furniture (still do). It just never ceases to amaze me how God puts these things and these people in my path. We have been so blessed by other people’s generosity. I won’t even start on the thousands (yes thousands) of dollars we’ve saved on clothes for our kids. It is very very rare that we have to buy anything for our kids. Between my in-laws, my mom, and lots and lots of hand me downs from kids our kids have always had great clothes- that we didn’t buy.
I just realized that it’s Thursday (yes it’s 8:40 and it just now hit me) and I need to do my Things I Love Thursday. I’ll be back with that post (if the kids allow) in a little while. Maybe during nap time.
