Once Again a Meme Saves the Day

Posted in Meme at 10:06 pm by canearl

My friend Linsi just started a blog- Life with the Neal Family and she’s tagged me for a meme.  I’m glad she did because otherwise- I got nothin’.   So here we go-

A.The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.

B. Each player answers the questions about themselves.

C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

What I was doing 10 years ago: 10 years ago today I was 21 and I was getting ready to move to Virginia to be with Hubs.  I was working a temp job at a paper warehouse type thing.  I was just biding my time until it was time to make the big move.  Which was one of the best decisions of my life.

5 Things on my To Do List today: Well it’s about 8:40pm now so the only thing left on my to do list is to go to bed.  Tomorrow though I really need to get some cleaning around the house done.  If I can pull myself away from the computer for a little while I might be able to get through the mountain of laundry I need to do.  I also need to go to the gym, spend some quality time with the kids since no one has school tomorrow, take a shower (yes it’s on the to do list- don’t judge), and sort some clothes to give to friends.

Snacks I Enjoy: Hazlenuts (they’re so good and good for you), Special K Bliss Bars(I could seriously eat a whole box in one day- I’m trying to pace myself and break it up over 2 days), Dove dark chocolate, chips and queso- I guess that’s enough- I could go on and on.

Things I would do if I were a Billionaire:  This may sound crazy, but I have absolutely no desire to be a billionaire.  I think that it would be much more stressful than fun.  If I had to be a billionaire than I would give most of it away- like 99% because really- who needs that much money.  I guess I’d get to keep my van if I was a billionaire.

3 of my Bad Habits: Being on the computer too much- or “working” as I call it when the kids need me, speeding, eating out of boredom.

5 places I have lived: Virginia Beach, Va; Des Moines Iowa; Kokomo, Indiana; Alpine, Tx; Midland, Tx

5 Jobs I have had:Sonic, Bell Atlantic (sold ISDN and DSL), Family Christian Store, Chili’s (it was only a month, but it still counts), ESD (extended school day- an after school program)

That’s all I got.  I’m tagging The Diaper Diaries, Georgia Mom, Yes, They Are All Mine, 3 for Momma, and Faithful Chick.

7 Random Things Meme

Posted in Meme, Uncategorized at 9:04 am by canearl

seven.jpg  A Broader Mark tagged me a while back for this meme and since I am the self-proclaimed “Queen of Memes” I can’t believe it’s actually taken me this long to do this one.  You can thank my kids for some good mediocre blog material that’s kept me busy.  Without further ado:

1.  From the 4th grade to the 9th grade I was in a different school every year.  I was also in 3 different cities.  It was a tough time to move so much, but overall it was great because it made me come out of my shell and learn to meet knew people.

2.  I drink my coffee black – preferably with a few pieces of chocolate on the side.

3.  I’m a picky eater.  I’ve come along way since childhood, but I’m still pickier than the average person.  It drives Hubs crazy.

4.  I would much rather rent a movie and watch it at home than in the movie theater.  I haven’t seen a movie in the theater in well over a year.

5.  Before kids I was a registered massage therapist.  I’m way out of practice, but thankfully when I do massage someone it all comes back.

6.  I played the clarinet in band from 7th-9th grade and I hated every minute of it.

7.  Even though I’m a good 35 pounds heavier and lumpy and bumpy-  my body image is so much better now than in highschool.  Don’t get me wrong I’d love to lose those 35 pounds and be firmer, but God has helped me see how blessed I am to have a body that works.  I get out of bed every morning and walk to the bathroom- there are a lot of people that can’t say that.  For that I’m grateful.

If there’s anyone out on bloggyland that hasn’t done this meme you’re tagged.  Leave me a comment so I can come visit.

The Queen of Memes

Posted in Meme at 8:30 am by canearl

imagescago7v24.jpg 3 for Momma tagged me for this meme.  You guys know that I love a good meme so here are the instructions for this one:

The Rules: Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog. Share 5 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog. or Share the 5 top places on your “want to see or want to see again” list. or Share 5 things you never pictured being in your future when your were 25 years old. Tag a minimum of 5, maximum of 10 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. The tagees have a choice of which they want to do.

Since I have about 100 random things about me in my 100th post I think that I’ll go with the things I never imagined in my future when I was 25.  That was only 6 years ago, but things didn’t work out quite like I thought.

1.  I never thought that I would have 3 kids in 4 years.  I got pregnant with Baby #1 when I was 25 and after having him I thought that 2 kids would be plenty (I originally wanted 4).  I also didn’t think that Baby #1 and Baby #2 would be quite as close in age as they are (they’re 21 months apart).  It only took us about 2 months to get pregnant- we were thinking more like 6.  As I’ve said before Baby #3 was a complete surprise.

2.   I never thought that I’d have such good girlfriends.  I’ve made 2 really good friends over the last couple of years and their friendships mean so much to me.  They’re the type of friends that will help me out whenever I need it- it’s been such a blessing to have 2 go-to girls.  It’s truly one of the biggest gifts God has given me.

3.  I never dreamed that my dad would be dead.  If you had told me that my dad would die of a heart attack in 4 short years I wouldn’t have believed it.  He didn’t lead a lifestyle that would lead to such things- especially at such a young age.  We have some heart and stroke issues in our family, but again not at such a young age.  I never thought that he wouldn’t see his grandbabies grow up.

4.  Okay- on to something lighter.  I never thought that I’d be driving a mini-van.  I fought the good fight, but when I got pregnant with Baby #3 there was no more fighting.  I had to surrender.  I’m so glad that I did- I really do love my van.  It’s so handy.  We have room for all of our junk- and with 3 kids there’s a plethora of junk to be hauled around on a daily basis (the sit-n-stand stroller, the umbrella stroller, 2 backpacks for pre-school, a diaper bag- need I go on).

5.  I didn’t realize how great my marriage would be.  I got married when I was 23 and I can honestly say that there’s never been a moment that I’ve regretted marrying Hubs.  I didn’t think that it would get worse as it went on- but I didn’t realize how it would just get better and better.  That’s saying a lot considering how stressful it can be to have 3 young kids.

Okay I’m tagging: Georgia Mom, Purple Teacup, The Diaper Diaries, Yes, They are all Mine, Faithful Chick.

Scattegories Anyone?

Posted in Meme at 1:47 pm by canearl

scatt1.jpg  I saw this over at The Diaper Diaries and thought it looked like fun.  Since I’m super lazy on Sundays I’ll just copy/paste the instructions: Here’s how you play. Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following categories. They have to be real places, names, things…nothing made up! Try to use different answers if the person in front of you had the same first initial. You CAN’T use your name for the boy/girl name question. Here goes nothing.

What is your name? Candace

4 letter word: Cane

Vehicle: Camry

City: Cairo

Boy Name: Christopher

Girl Name: Christine (my middle name)

Occupation: Chiropractor

Something you wear: Catsuit- not me (yet).

Celebrity: Carmen Electra (she’s the first one that came to mind.  She’d look good in a catsuit).

Food: Cinnamon Rolls

Something found in a bathroom: Cotton towels

Reason for Being Late: Constipation (sorry the bathroom made me think of that)

Cartoon Character: Cinderella

Something You Shout:  “Come in here right now!!”  Usually followed by- clean up this mess.

If you want to play along consider yourself tagged.  Drop me a comment if you do.

Things I Love Right Now

Posted in Hubs, Kids, Meme, Random at 12:45 pm by canearl

hearts.jpg  I would like to thank Musings of a Housewifefor giving me some blog material today.  WFMW totally snuck up on my today and I got nothin’.

1.  I love that Baby #1 and Baby #2 are bestfriends.  I love that they can entertain themselves for a good hour (which considering their ages is huge) with no intervention from me.  I’ve already gotten one bathroom cleaned, and more importantly, caught up on all of my blogs today thanks to them being able to play together.

2.  The fact that Hubs and I have a couple of sets for friends where we both like both the husband and the wife.  Their friendships are priceless.

3.  My new digital camera.  Actually my MIL bought it for Hubs, but I use it more and it’s so nice going from a 2 mega-pixel camera to one with 7!  Huge improvement.

4.  Heroes.  We’re finally caught up on Seasons 1 and 2.  It’s such a good show- can’t believe it took us this long to get hooked.

5.  My new gym membership.  It’s great that my kids like going as much as I do.

6.  I love that all of my Christmas decorations are back in the attic.  That’s the most dreaded part of Christmas for me so I’m glad that it’s done.

7.  The way Hubs drops everything and plays with the kids as soon as he comes home from work.  I’m sure that he’d like a few minutes to transition from work to home, but he puts his wants aside and gives his all to our kids.

8.  Play-doh.  See #1.

9.  100 Calorie Pack- Lorna Doones shortbread cookies.

10.  Netflix.  I love that I can get movies in the mail and never have to set foot inside a movie rental place again if I so chose.

Toddler Time

Posted in Kids, Meme at 9:37 pm by canearl

Photobucket              Hannah over at The Diaper Diaries tagged me (Baby #3)for my first ever post.  Finally I get to do something before my brother and sister.  They’ve never been tagged to do a blog post before.  Whoo hoo!!  I’m suppose to tell you 8 things about myself.  Since my mama was able to come up with 100 things about herself I think that I can come up with 8.

1.  First off- I have a really long name.  Eight letters in my first, 9 in my middle and 7 in my last name.  What’s up with that?  My parents actually thought about naming me Ava- that would have been much much easier.  Maybe I’ll just be called Baby #3 when I get to school- it’s catchy isn’t it?

2.  I love my brother and sister.  My brother really takes good care of me and my sister lets me play with her dolls.  Well sometimes she does.  She’s 2 1/2 so I’ll give her a break for being stingy every once in a while.

3.  Mama always says that I was the easiest baby.  I slept pretty much the whole first 6 months of my life.  I figured with my brother and sister running amok I could give my mama a break.

4.  I don’t like going to strangers.  I don’t know why everyone wants to hold me so much.  I know that I’m cute and all, but just let me hang out with my parents.

5.  I’ll eat just about anything.  I’ve noticed that my brother and sister tend to be a little pickier than I am (actually Baby #1 is a lot pickier than I am).  For now I’ll try anything once.

6.  I love music.  I especially love the Sunday School Jamz CD.  Hearing those kids singing makes me clap my hands and wiggle my bottom.  I just can’t help it- I have to groove to the music.

7.  I am also known as the “Secret Weapon”.  When daddy and Baby #1 are wrestling around on the floor and Baby #1 gets in a jam he always calls for me to come help him out.  I run over there and sit down on daddy’s head.  It works every time.  Baby #1 and I make a great team.

8.  I don’t let anyone push me around.  I used to be laid back and let my brother and sister take my toys, but not anymore.  If they try to take something from me I’ll let them know that I’m not down with that.  I usually just cry really loud and mama jumps in and tells them to give me my toy back.  Works every time.

Now I need to tag 8 blogging buddies to play along so here goes: Ella, Duncan, R, Buddy, The Bear, Jensen, Sally, and Ms. Suesue.  If I didn’t tag you and you want to play along please do.  Drop me a comment so that I can come over and check it out.
